(a) A scientist uses this method to investigate the effect of exercise on the pulse rate of four people.
This is the scientist’s method.

- the people then exercise for five minutes
- measure the pulse rate at one-minute intervals during exercise
- record the pulse rate in beats per minute (bpm)
